Madeleine Blackwell works across a range of performing arts and screen projects as a writer and director. She has worked as an actor and theatre director and graduated from NIDA and The Australian Film and Television School.
Her first short film FATHER screened at Tehran International Film Festival, 1998 and The Women on Women Film Festival, Sydney 1998.
She has directed numerous short films and performance works both in Australia and internationally, specialising in training theatre students, she directs Shakespeare regularly at Utrecht University in the Netherlands and at various Australian universities and acting schools in Australia.
She wrote SO CLOSE TO HOME, a 52 min. drama, which won a Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival, a Dendy Award at Sydney Film Festival and was a finalist in the Australian Film Institute Awards for screenwriting in 2004.
Her short film ELSEWHERE (2014) screened at Canberra Short Film Festival, Le Bout du Monde festival, France and Fajr Film festival, Tehran, Iran. She is currently in pre-production for a feature film DAMAGE to be produced in September 2015.
